Julia Watson

Folk Blues Jazz/Rock Pop

Julia Watson is a prairie-born violinist who obtained a degree in Classical Violin Performance from Brandon University.

After moving to Kelowna in 2014, Julia Watson has established herself as an elementary school music teacher, private instructor, and freelancer. Her passion in the arts community is creating, playing with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, and collaborating with others

While completing her bachelor’s degree with violinist Kerry DuWors, she was a competitor at local and provincial music festivals, and toured nationwide with Winnipeg folk artist Ingrid Gatin. Another highlight of her undergrad experience was performing at the Dark Days Music festival in Reykjavik, Iceland with Megumi Masaki’s New Music Ensemble.

Currently, Julia enjoys recording in the studio for artists, providing live music at special events, and composing music in her free time.

Julia is part of the Kelowna duo Fiddle Big Fiddle along with local cellist Nils Loewen.
