Edmonton alt pop band The Royal Foundry stoked the fire that previous acts had earlier lit, and used their energetic music and frenetic movement to lift the flames higher. It was during their set that early festival attendees started congregating along the photo pit barrier in front of the stage to really start concentrating on the music and not just on the joy of actually being at a festival with other real live people.

The sharing of instruments between Jared Salte and Bethany Schumacher, each taking turns on keys and guitar, and the bouncing all over the stage in a level of delight that appeared to border on pure ecstacy, pulled the audience all the way into the whole festival mindset and spirit. That, and music that grooved well and felt good. Really good.

The set list included "don’t hurt the people you love", " Hopefully", "Never Have Time", "Drama", "I Need Ya", "okay?", "I Believe", "Listen to the Beat", "You Got Everything/But Not Me", and "WAKEUP WAKEUP". "Listen to the Beat" is the bands latest single, and while we couldn't find it on YouTube, several of the band's other songs are there. Here is the link to their YouTube channel: TheRoyalFoundry.

Hearing them at Denim On The Diamond led us to seek their channel out. Hearing the songs again will keep us returning to hear them again and again.

The Royal Foundry put a smile on the faces of the growing crowd, and got their bodies swaying in time to the beats that ebbed and flowed across their 10 song set. Well done. Hope to see you live again sometime soon.
